Northern Illinois beat No. 5 Notre Dame 16-14 on a field goal in the last minute

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Kanon Woodill hit a 35-yard field goal with 31 seconds to play, Cade Haberman had a 62-yard field goal blocked as time expired and Northern Illinois stunned No. 5 Notre Dame 16-14 Saturday.

Haberman blocked Notre Dame’s Mitch Jeter’s 62-yard field goal, allowing the cheering Huskies to earn their first non-conference victory against a ranked opponent since a 19-16 upset by No. 21 Alabama in 2003. It was also the Huskies’ first win over a top 10 opponent.
