Colorado to allow more public input on the planned expansion of a gas storage facility near an Adams County elementary school

Colorado air pollution regulators took the unusual step this month of extending the public comment period on a permit that would allow a pipeline company to expand a gas storage facility across the street from an elementary school in a neighborhood north of Denver.

The expansion comes amid criticism that regulators at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and executives at the Magellan Pipeline Company did not communicate with the public about plans to expand fuel storage at the Dupont Terminal at 8160 Krameria St. in unincorporated Adams County.

The expansion will increase the amount of toxins released into the air in a community that already suffers from a similar amount of pollution compared to the rest of the province.
