Manure and Insects: Are they the key to sustainable crop production?
The Nutrient Management Spear Program (NMSP) at Cornell University aims to improve the profitability and competitiveness of New York’s dairy, livestock, and cash crops while increasing environmental protection. Their motto is “relevant questions and rational science for the benefit of agriculture and protecting the environment”. Working with farmers in the New York On-Farm Research Partnership, the team is exploring the importance of compost in crop production, climate resilience, and environmental protection. This Digital Cafรฉ featured Quirine Ketterings, NMSP leader, who shared the value of the compost project and findings related to indicators of soil microbial health so far.
